Just watched the documentary World 1-1. This was a great movie about the early days of the computer gaming industry - namely the rise of Atari from arcades to the VCS (2600) and then the fall during the early 80's.

Got me wondering about other movies like this relating to retro gaming. Here is a list of movies I know about:

World 1-1 : Story of the early computer games industry in the US

From Bedroom to Billions - story of the early gaming industry in the UK (C64 and Specturm days up to the console boom)

Micro Men - story about Sinclair Spectrum and the Acorn (BBC Micro, archimedes) companies in the UK

The King of Kong - story about a guy trying to beat the Donkey Kong Arcade world record and the challenges he faces along the way.

Please post if you know of any more

Regards,

Ashley

There was a movie I watched recently that was about some people trying to find all the buried Atari 2600 ET games out in the desert. Funny movie about how they spent too much money on the rights for the game then gave the game designer 5 weeks to make it. Of course it was always going to be a flop.

Can't remember the name of the movie though.

Hell Chris,

That movie was Atari: Game Over (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3715406/)

Great movie about them going and trying to find where all those Atari 2600 cartridges were buried.

Ashley

There's also Bedroom to Billions - The Amiga Years. This follows on from the original bedroom to Billions and concentrates on the development and release of the Commodore Amiga.

I hadn't realised the drama and backend deals that went on during the Amiga's conception and how everyone was fighting over it.

Makes for an interesting movie and sets things up for the next in the series - well - here's hoping.

Ashley
